Your Mental Health is a Priority

Many clients seek therapy because their environments have, knowingly or unknowingly, invalidated their experiences, particularly when faced with emotional sensitivity characterized by intense, frequent, and long-lasting emotions. It's akin to being a rose in a tulip garden — unique and beautiful, yet misunderstood.

In our work together, we focus on identifying and reducing ineffective behaviors, fostering self-acceptance, and cultivating skills to navigate life's challenges. By embracing the principle that behaviors are understandable responses to past experiences, we move away from blame and toward healing and empowerment.

As a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification™ Certified Clinician, I recognize that all behaviors — emotions, thoughts, and actions — have underlying causes. These causes often stem from the interplay between an individual's biological makeup and the environment in which they were raised. Understanding that every behavior has a cause allows us to approach ourselves with compassion rather than judgment.

Support Designed Around You

Our Approach

At Just Keep Swimming Counseling, we go beyond just talking about problems — we focus on helping you actively change them. Rather than offering general support alone, we use structured, evidence-based therapies that are designed to work, including:

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • DBT Prolonged Exposure (DBT PE) Trauma Therapy

  • Radically Open DBT (RO DPBT)

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Each of these target specific patterns, whether you’re working through trauma, anxiety, or just feeling stuck. Our goal is to help you build practical skills, face what’s difficult, and create meaningful, lasting change in your everyday life.

Areas of Focus

We specialize in treating high-impact, often complex challenges using structured, evidence-based approaches. Rather than just addressing symptoms, we focus on the underlying patterns driving your experiences—helping you build the skills needed to create meaningful, lasting change.

  • Substance use disorders

  • Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorder

  • Eating disorders, including binge eating and bulimia nervosa

  • Personality disorders (including borderline, narcissistic, histrionic, antisocial, and obsessive-compulsive personality disorders)

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
